LOCAL INFORMATION

Llanwrtyd Wells, in the Heart of Wales, offers a wealth of exciting experiences for the visitor. It is the smallest town in Britain but boasts a number of attractions, some unique like the annual Man versus Horse Marathon and Bog Snorkelling!

It is a centre for walking and cycling and was the birthplace of pony trekking 50 years ago.

Built astride the River Irfon, Llanwrtyd is surrounded by hills and mountains. There is rugged moorland, shady forests and beautiful valleys with meandering streams. Wherever you go you are surrounded by truly magnificent scenery.

Here you can watch the red kite soaring high, riding the air thermals or glimpse many of the other species which inhabit the area.

There are miles of footpaths and bridleways, forest trails as well as quiet roads.

The air is pure, there is no light pollution as the nearest cities are over 40 miles away, but here all your needs are catered for with friendly local shops, public houses and excellent restaurants.

You can drive through this beautiful countryside to visit other little market towns such as Builth Wells, the home of the Royal Welsh Show, or to explore castles, caves, even a gold mine!
